Jim Dixon

Do any of you know who Jim Dixon is? Not the Jim Dixon who arrived in Sydney as a convict in 1800 – given his freedom in 1803 - who became the first priest to say mass in the colony of New South Wales. Not that one. Jim Dixon of Real Good Food. Realgoodfood.com, from Portland, Oregon. Gem. Gem. Gem.

A Portland institution I understand.

I don’t know him but I know he’s a gem of a guy and I am now subscribed to his blog thanks to my big brother Eric. I love Jim. Honestly he is too much. He makes and sells imported olive oil, vinegars, beans and a couple other things but not much more - and he is a hoot and a half. You have to check out his blog and get his email. He’s just so good you want to devour him. Honest.

I’m going to take a trip to Oregon so that I can go to his warehouse and look at his olive oil and go to the Farmer’s Market so I can see his outfitted truck. And while I’m there I’m going to taste Portland’s breads and go to a food shop that’s supposed to be cool and trendy and we will see what else I come up with.

Ready for me Eric?
